To love is to admire with the heart; to admire is to love with the mind. ~ Theophile Gautier
With the wedding season on, many people came to me asking for ideas on how to propose their partner. I decided to make their and my (mostly mine) life easier. Here are 9 ideas to propose someone:
Plan a special picnic date with your partner. Pack their favorite snacks in a picnic basket. You can also cook something special for them and conceal your proposal on one of the food packs.
You can get a nice picnic basket from Amazon.
- Long Drive
Pre plan a little so that you can decorate the car trunk with photos, balloons, flowers, ribbons etc. Take your partner for a long drive. Reach a nice quite place and let them open the trunk to see your proposal. Just make sure they don't open the car boot before the intended destination.
I planned a similar surprise for a friend before her wedding. Read about it here. Surprise Surprise !!
If you want it easy, you can buy the car décor from Ferns n Petals.
- Under the Moon and Stars
Take your partner to a place where you can get a clear view of the stars. Take a bedsheet with you. While enjoying stargazing, subtly put forward your proposal. Your Star Forever helps you name stars and dedicate stars in the sky to someone special.

- Lordship & Ladyship Title
According to a historic Scottish land ownership custom, landowners are referred to as "Lairds", the Scottish term for "Lord", with the female equivalent being "Lady". Established Titles helps you buy a souvenir plot of land for a personal dedication. Gift your partner one square foot of dedicated land in Wigtownshire, Scotland along with in a printable certificate and propose them to become your Lady or Lord for the rest of their life. This gift contributes to the preservation and protection of woodland areas in Scotland.
- A walk down memory lane
Create a collection of memories of you and your partner, beautifully crafted in a personalized photo album. Leave a note behind each photo and let them immerse in nostalgia before asking them the question. You can hide the ring inside the photo album.
- Flashback Movie - Recreate your Love
Woo your partner by creating a short movie from your pictures and videos. At the end of the video pop the question and the ring. Staying inside can be just as romantic as spending money at a 5-star restaurant.
Propose to your partner with this romantic proposal jigsaw puzzle from Amazon.
You can also create your own design at Giftcart.
- Treasure Hunt
Organize a treasure hunt at home. Write clues on pieces of paper and hide them all over the house. You can either hide multiple gifts along with clues or hide a ring with a nice proposal written as the last clue.
- Keep it Simple
Love is to express and not to impress. So keep it simple. Be yourself. Cook dinner for your partner. Go back to the good old days. And very casually get down on your knees and propose.
